A series of wildfires swept through the island of Maui and its historic Lahaina town in Hawaii in early August. However, the never-ending revelations about authorities’ questionable and poor decisions during the incident continue to unfold. Herman Andaya, now the former chief of Maui’s Emergency Management Agency, decided not to activate warning sirens during the wildfires. He claimed that doing so would have caused more confusion and wouldn’t have saved anyone. Moreover, children were left at home without their parents after power cuts on the island closed the schools – contributing to a large number of juvenile casualties. Following the poor decisions that led to more casualties during the wildfires, reports have emerged that authorities are turning away residents that arrive with much-needed supplies like generators and water. Survivors who receive water provided by the state government get sick after drinking. Hawaiian Electric, which promised to invest in preventive measures after the 2019 wildfires, still lacks preparedness. The local utility company obsessively focused on renewable energy while spending a mere $245,000 on wildfire safety over the four-year period between 2019 and 2023. Furthermore, M. Kaleo Manuel – an official at the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) – refused to release water for the West Maui fire. The deputy director for the DLNR’s  Commission on Water Resource Management believed in water equity and reverence for water as a privilege rather than a resource. A Maui resident says they were winning against the fires “until the water shut off.” Real estate developers taking advantage of the tragic incident in Maui Hawaii Gov. Josh Green has been vocal about his intention to prevent opportunistic land acquisitions by foreign entities and ensure that the recovery and redevelopment process prioritizes the interests of Hawaii’s people. “We don’t want this to become a clear space for overseas interests to exploit. The state will take the lead in preserving it first,” he said during a press conference. The Aloha State’s governor stressed the need to prevent exploitation and land theft: “You will be pretty poorly informed if you try to steal land from our people and then build here.” Despite the clear stance, reports have emerged of developers reaching out to residents about acquiring land owned by families for generations. They have exploited the situation by purchasing land from desperate homeowners. The fear is that without swift insurance payouts and adequate government aid, survivors might be compelled to sell to deep-pocketed buyers. These external parties could then rapidly gentrify neighborhoods and alter the character of the island. Long-time Maui resident John Dimuro expressed his neighbors’ collective sentiment: “The government should just say ‘No, you’re not allowed to develop.’ Say no, just flat-out no.” Jonah Lion, who runs an eco-cultural tourism company, affirmed the resolve of many islanders. He stressed: “No matter how much money you offer – no, we’re not selling. This is not for sale.” Sterling Higa, executive director of the nonprofit Housing Hawaii’s Future, outlined the potential challenges that await affected residents. “The real danger is all of this compensation to rebuild, if it comes at a later time, doesn’t necessarily cover the interim cost of rent,” he explained. “Many of us are concerned that in the immediate wake of a disaster, people are not always in the right state of mind to make such a consequential decision.” Visit Disaster.news for more stories about the wildfires in Hawaii. Internal documents extracted from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) show that the corrupt federal agency lied about science in order to push an aggressive pro-mask agenda during the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) “pandemic.” The NIH under the leadership of now-departed director Francis Collins relied on inaccurate information and misrepresented medical research to falsely claim that wearing a face mask helps to prevent severe transmission of the Fauci Flu. And the agency did so in spite of conflicting scientific evidence in its possession demonstrating the exact opposite. If anything, masks make a person more prone to infection by blocking oxygen intake, not to mention the fact that mask material tends to harbor deadly pathogens and other exhaled waste, which sits right next to a person’s nose and mouth. In a recently obtained letter sent in November 2021 to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), leading epidemiologist Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, along with seven of his colleagues, warned the CDC that it, too, was promoting the same flawed data while excluding contradictory data showing that masks do not work to prevent infection or spread. That letter specifically called out the COVID-19 Real-Time Learning Network, a program jointly created by the CDC and the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), which contains false information that threatens to “damage the credibility of science” while endangering public trust by “misrepresenting the evidence” and giving the public “false expectations” about the alleged benefits they should expect to receive from wearing a mask. “We believe the information and recommendations as provided may actually put an individual at increased risk of becoming infected with SARS-CoV-2 and for them to experience a serious or even life-threatening infection,” Osterholm and the others wrote. If they try to force us back into masks this fall, remind everyone of Osterholm’s letter to the CDC Osterholm and his colleagues urged the IDSA to remove the suggestion that wearing a mask in any way prevents transmission of SARS-CoV-2 – because the fact of the matter is that masks do nothing except make the wearer look stupid and gullible. Osterholm emphasized that the U.S. government at the time showed a clear pattern of cherry-picking data that supported its narrative while rejecting data that opposed it. As a result, science became compromised, followed by widespread public mistrust in U.S. government agencies. The creators of the IDSA’s “Masks and Face Coverings for the Public” page chose to “focus on the strengths of studies that support its conclusions while ignoring their shortcomings of study design,” Osterholm explained. “Studies that do not support its perspective are similarly downplayed.” With funding from the CDC, the COVID-19 Real-Time Learning Network was launched in 2020 as part of a government propaganda effort to push masks and social distancing as the solutions to covid. The IDSA itself also collaborates with the following big-name organizations: • The American Academy of Family Physicians • The American Academy of Pediatrics • The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists • The American College of Physicians • The Society of Critical Care Medicine • The Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America • The Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists Though they never followed through with his request, Osterholm petitioned the CDC and the IDSA to address the “serious errors” published on its website regarding the “efficacy” of masks, where he says “irresponsible claims were made.” Don’t let the powers that be force you back into a mask this fall.
