In a failed attempt to empathize with the victims of the recent wildfires in Hawaii’s Maui island, President Joe Biden claimed he understood the victims by comparing the wildfires to almost losing his car and his cat in a kitchen fire. The wildfires that swept through Maui, centered mostly in the town of Lahaina, had already killed at least 115 people and left another 850 missing. He responded by giving a speech to a crowd in Lahaina where he claimed he knew how it felt to lose a home. (Related: Head of Maui’s emergency management agency resigns amid criticism for not sounding alert sirens during wildfire.) He told the crowd: “I don’t want to compare difficulties, but we have a little sense – Jill and I – of what it’s like to lose a home. “Years ago now – 15 years ago – I was in Washington … [when] lightning struck at home, on a little lake that’s outside of our home – not a lake, a big pond – and hit a wire that came up underneath our home into the heating ducts and air conditioning ducts. To make a long story short, I almost lost my wife, my ’67 Corvette and my cat. “I watched the firefighters, the way they responded … You’re all crazy, thank God. People who run into flames to save other people – and they ran into flames to save my wife, to save my family – not a joke. “We were insured, we did not have any problem. But being out of our home for the better part of a year was difficult. I can only imagine what it’s like to lose your home.” Biden’s false story about possibly losing a car and a cat was not received well. “Joe Biden is a piece of garbage, in my opinion,” said Attorney Thomas Renz on the Aug. 22 episode of his Brighteon.TV program “Lawfare with Tom Renz.” “Biden – who just went over to Hawaii and told everybody about his cat catching fire – told residents whose children died in fires, … who’d lost everything, he told them about almost losing a cat.” “Joe Biden feels the pain of Lahaina [by] talking about his kitchen fire,” said “Fox & Friends Weekend” co-host Will Cain. One restaurant owner in the nearby town of Kihei said in an interview that Biden’s comment was “the most despicable thing this president has ever said.” Biden’s aid to Hawaii wildfire victims? Just $700 Biden’s story about possibly losing his car and his cat as one part of his insured home caught fire comes as his administration offered the victims of the wildfires a mere $700 per household. This one-time check is meant to address “immediate needs” like water, food and clothing. Maui residents and victims of the wildfires even pointed out the disparity between the aid provided to American citizens and the aid sent to other countries, particularly Ukraine. During Biden’s visit, many protesters held up signs comparing the assistance already available for the people of Hawaii. To date, the Biden administration has only approved around $8.2 million in assistance to 2,700 households in Maui. There are nearly 54,000 households on the island. Meanwhile, the Biden administration announced a further $200 million in security assistance heading straight for Kyiv as the wildfires were engulfing hundreds of homes. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) claimed in its official data that it has already given around $2.3 million to just half of the 2,700 households eligible to receive the $700 checks. On its website, FEMA claims to have approved $3.17 million in aid, of which $1.42 million is for “individual and households program” assistance and $1.75 million is for “other needs assistance.” None of the figures coming out from the government paint Biden’s administration in a positive light. The White House struggles to spend more than a handful of a million for American citizens caught in a disaster, yet readily sends hundreds of millions in taxpayer dollars overseas. “He gave them $700 and left,” said Renz. “Meanwhile, he gave billions of dollars to the Nazi regime in Ukraine.” Watch the full Aug. 22 episode of “Lawfare with Tom Renz” below. Internal documents extracted from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) show that the corrupt federal agency lied about science in order to push an aggressive pro-mask agenda during the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) “pandemic.” The NIH under the leadership of now-departed director Francis Collins relied on inaccurate information and misrepresented medical research to falsely claim that wearing a face mask helps to prevent severe transmission of the Fauci Flu. And the agency did so in spite of conflicting scientific evidence in its possession demonstrating the exact opposite. If anything, masks make a person more prone to infection by blocking oxygen intake, not to mention the fact that mask material tends to harbor deadly pathogens and other exhaled waste, which sits right next to a person’s nose and mouth. In a recently obtained letter sent in November 2021 to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), leading epidemiologist Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, along with seven of his colleagues, warned the CDC that it, too, was promoting the same flawed data while excluding contradictory data showing that masks do not work to prevent infection or spread. That letter specifically called out the COVID-19 Real-Time Learning Network, a program jointly created by the CDC and the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), which contains false information that threatens to “damage the credibility of science” while endangering public trust by “misrepresenting the evidence” and giving the public “false expectations” about the alleged benefits they should expect to receive from wearing a mask. “We believe the information and recommendations as provided may actually put an individual at increased risk of becoming infected with SARS-CoV-2 and for them to experience a serious or even life-threatening infection,” Osterholm and the others wrote. (Related: The CDC also admitted in late 2022 that natural immunity is much better than covid “vaccines” at protecting human health.) If they try to force us back into masks this fall, remind everyone of Osterholm’s letter to the CDC Osterholm and his colleagues urged the IDSA to remove the suggestion that wearing a mask in any way prevents transmission of SARS-CoV-2 – because the fact of the matter is that masks do nothing except make the wearer look stupid and gullible. Osterholm emphasized that the U.S. government at the time showed a clear pattern of cherry-picking data that supported its narrative while rejecting data that opposed it. As a result, science became compromised, followed by widespread public mistrust in U.S. government agencies. The creators of the IDSA’s “Masks and Face Coverings for the Public” page chose to “focus on the strengths of studies that support its conclusions while ignoring their shortcomings of study design,” Osterholm explained. “Studies that do not support its perspective are similarly downplayed.” With funding from the CDC, the COVID-19 Real-Time Learning Network was launched in 2020 as part of a government propaganda effort to push masks and social distancing as the solutions to covid. The IDSA itself also collaborates with the following big-name organizations: • The American Academy of Family Physicians • The American Academy of Pediatrics • The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists • The American College of Physicians • The Society of Critical Care Medicine • The Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America • The Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists Though they never followed through with his request, Osterholm petitioned the CDC and the IDSA to address the “serious errors” published on its website regarding the “efficacy” of masks, where he says “irresponsible claims were made.” Don’t let the powers that be force you back into a mask this fall. Most voters see President Joe Biden as a poor leader and an untrustworthy chief executive, according to the results of a new survey. The poll, conducted by Center Square and Noble Predictive Insights (NPI) from July 31 to Aug. 3, sampled 2,500 respondents. Unlike traditional national polls that had a cap of about 1,000 participants, the survey had a larger comprehensive respondent size. Registered voters who leaned Republican, Democratic and Independent were surveyed. According to the poll, 49 percent of voters say Biden is not a strong leader compared to the 36 percent who believe otherwise. Forty-nine percent also say Biden does not have the judgment to serve effectively, compared to the 40 percent who believe he does. Moreover, 47 percent say the incumbent president isn’t trustworthy while 40 percent believe he can be trusted. The survey also found that 66 percent of respondents – a solid majority – say the country is headed in the wrong direction under Biden’s leadership. Fifty-four percent of respondents – slightly over half – disapprove of the job Biden is doing. (Related: NOTHING NEW HERE: Poll shows 52% of Americans DISAPPROVE of Biden.) NPI CEO Mike Noble noted how Biden’s rating is “underwater” with both older and younger voters. He also pointed out that four in 10 Democratic-leaning voters think the country is going in the wrong direction. Seven in 10 independent-leaning voters share the same sentiment, Noble added. According to the NPI founder, two events have played a big part in Biden’s tanking approval. The rapid rise in inflation – dubbed “Bidenflation” – during his presidency coupled with the chaotic withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan after more than two decades changed people’s view of the chief executive for the worse. “It’s crazy; when you look at the numbers for Biden, first six or seven months, he was fantastic,” Noble said. “And right when the Afghanistan withdrawal happened, he dropped like a rock and he never recovered.” Noble: Biden has “perception issue” based on survey results The NPI founder and CEO observed that Biden’s trustworthiness as reflected in the poll’s results was rather surprising. “Historically, I think Joe would have scored really high on that question. But I think due to the Hunter Biden issue, he is viewed more untrustworthy than trustworthy among the overall electorate – which I think is a bit of an issue for him,” Noble said. The Biden crime family has been the subject of intense scrutiny over allegations that it benefited from overseas business dealings from the incumbent president’s time as vice president under former President Barack Obama. Under the leadership of its chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY), the House Oversight Committee (HOC) has released witness testimonies, documents from Federal Bureau of Investigation informants and bank records that support these allegations. The HOC argues that the Biden crime family and its associates received about $20 million from entities in China, Ukraine, Romania, Russia and Kazakhstan. The money was coursed to about 20 shell companies before being transferred to the bank accounts of individual family members – including Joe, who was dubbed the “big guy” in electronic correspondences. At the same time, whistleblowers from the Internal Revenue Service testified that the Department of Justice meddled with the investigation into Hunter, Joe’s second-eldest child. The presidential son, who allegedly spearheaded the overseas deals, is now facing tax and gun-related charges. These allegations, Noble said, have eroded Americans’ trust in the incumbent president. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has vowed to crack down on retail theft after a series of violent flash mob robberies targeted luxury goods stores in the city in broad daylight. LAPD Deputy Chief Blake Chow told reporters on Aug. 17: “The LAPD will not tolerate these acts. We will not stand by idly while these acts continue.” LA Mayor Karen Bass said on the same day that law enforcement agencies across LA County were joining forces to establish a task force aimed at stamping out retail theft. She promised: “If someone commits a crime, we’ll catch [them and prosecute them to the] fullest extent of the law.” The announcement of the task force came a day after retail thieves targeted a Gucci store in LA on Aug. 16. The group of 10 brazenly plundered the store in broad daylight, making off with handbags worth $100,000. Earlier on Aug. 12, dozens of people looted a Nordstrom in LA’s San Fernando Valley and made off with $300,000 of goods. High-end stores throughout the City of Angels have been targeted by masked groups who smash through display boxes and grab designer clothes and bags. Video clips posted on social media shows mobs of up to 50 people rampaging through upscale retailers, breaking glass and yanking away goods attached by security cables. Often, the raids happen in full view of other shoppers too stunned to intervene. Clerks and security guards, meanwhile, are seemingly powerless to prevent them. The video clips of the brazen robberies are cited by conservatives to support their argument that blue cities have an out-of-control crime problem. Robbery statistics in the area are mixed. The LAPD figures noted a decline in the year-to-date number compared to 2022. However, the LA County Sheriff’s Department showed a different number. It recorded an uptick in robberies during the first six months of 2023. Rapper 50 Cent says “LA is finished” because of retail theft Curtis Jackson, known by his moniker 50 Cent, put in his two cents about the Aug. 12 Nordstrom robbery in an Instagram post. He warned that the City of Angels is “finished” due to the rampant retail theft there. “I told you LA was finished,” he wrote. “They are [going to] have to lock the doors, appointment only.” The post from the rapper of “In Da Club” had a screenshot of a news report by KTLA 5 about the incident. This was not the first time the rap artist criticized LA’s situation on Instagram. Back in July, he pointed out that the city’s reinstatement of a zero-bail policy would further its collapse. 50 Cent wrote: “LA is finished. Watch how bad it gets out there.” (Related: Rapper 50 Cent says LA is FINISHED after reinstatement of zero-bail policy.) Under the policy, LAPD officers cannot detain suspects accused of misdemeanor crimes. This also extends to theft, shoplifting, drug use, vandalism, battery and other nonviolent crimes. Moreover, those currently in jail on such charges would also be set free. But a suspect violating the zero-bail schedule is immediately put back in jail on a cash bail system. This was not the first time the City of Angels implemented such a policy. During the height of the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, LA put the zero-bail policy in place to reduce crowding in jails and curb the spread of COVID-19. LA officials ended the policy in September 2022 as the COVID-19 pandemic waned. However, it was reinstated in May 2023 after LA County Superior Court Judge Lawrence Riff sided with a group of activists who sued the county. The plaintiffs claimed that they had suffered under the cash bail system. Riff’s ruling may have played a part in the proliferation of smash-and-grab crimes in LA, as the culprits no longer fear jail time. Just when you may have thought things couldn’t get any crazier: American playwright and humorist C.J. Hopkins, profiled in this space on numerous occasions, has been sent a “punishment order” by a German judge, offering him a Sophie’s Choice of 60 days in jail or 3,600 euros. (Article by Matt Taibbi republished from Racket.news) His crime? Essentially, insulting the German health minister in a tweet, and using a scarcely-visible image of a Swastika on a mask in a book critical of the global pandemic response, The Rise of the New Normal Reich. He was first accused of this “crime” in June, shortly after Roger Waters was placed under investigation for wearing his clearly satirical “Pink” costume in a stage performance in Berlin. As I wrote when C.J. was charged weeks later, authorities claim that through the use of the mask image, C.J. was “disseminating propaganda, the contents of which are intended to further the aims of a former National Socialist organization.” The judge in C.J.’s case has already heard free-speech argumentation from his lawyer, and this technically being a non-jury misdemeanor offense, has already ruled against those arguments. C.J. will apparently have a chance to argue for mitigation, but the decree has already been handed down: The “Punishment Order” for C.J. Hopkins Here is the would-be offending image: As noted previously, here are some images currently on sale in Germany that have not been made the subjects of hate speech prosecutions: No amount of drugs exist that if consumed would allow a rational person to conclude that the writing of C.J. Hopkins furthers “the aims of a former National Socialist Organization.” Agree with him or not, and I increasingly do, he used his imagery to compare the sweeping declarations of emergency power that were common around the world during the pandemic (and were particularly authoritarian in Germany) to Nazi tactics. He compared, for instance, the 2020 “Infection Protection Act” to the “Enabling Act of 1933,” which announced that to “remedy the distress of the people,” the “laws enacted by the government of the Reich may deviate from the constitution.” C.J.’s real offense seems to be a response to a tweet by Die Welt, quoting German health minister Karl Lauterbach. Portrayed in full Sprockets-style smart-glasses glory, Lauterbach is shown saying, “The masks always send out a signal”: C.J. retweeted the quote, adding the image from his book cover. That’s it, that’s the offense. No matter how you feel about that exchange, that is not “intended to further the aims of a former National Socialist organization.” That is using the negative connotations of Nazism to criticize a currently serving government official. I defy any American reporter to justify incarceration for this type of criticism of a still-serving politician. We’d have to build a separate Supermax just for people who used Hitler analogies during the Trump years, or published gleeful headlines like, “Lawsuit Reveals Trump Can’t Stand Being Compared to Hitler.” The use of speech laws in this way recalls the way drug laws are applied in the U.S. We let stockbrokers blow as much coke as they want, out of the navels of exotic dancers if they like, but make possession a real crime in other contexts, effectively giving authorities a way to use an “offense” committed by many to selectively criminalize membership in certain groups, residency in certain neighborhoods, etc. As C.J. points out, the real problem is not so much with his case (although he’s certainly worried), but the now-open way in which such laws are being applied, from the prosecution of Julian Assange to the suppression of Covid speech and even the extra counts addressing “false statements” in tweets by Donald Trump. We’ve already decided that Racket will help with C.J.’s fine if and when this matter is finally adjudicated, and we’ll keep you updated on the progress of the case, and on the progress of the many laws being considered to allow more prosecutions of this type in more parts of the world. Until then, some words from C.J., whom I reached this morning: Matt Taibbi: What the fuck? C.J. Hopkins: I’m relatively okay in that I just got the latest update from my lawyer yesterday, I guess. Matt Taibbi: This is the same case? I’m not confusing this with something else? C.J. Hopkins: You’re not. It’s the same case. It’s the weirdest thing. I’m just drafting a new thing about it. I think I wrote you, described the process a little bit, but yeah, this is just the next stage of the same case. Matt Taibbi: So this essentially is about the use of the image on the cover, right? C.J. Hopkins: It’s about the tweet… It’s the cover art from the book and it’s me going after the mask thing, like the one tweet I think, not exactly verbatim but pretty close, says the masks are nothing but ideological conformity symbols, and that’s all they’ve ever been. Stop pretending like they’re anything else or get used to wearing them. That’s one tweet. Then the other tweet was going after Karl Lauterbach, our health minister here. He tweeted his own tweet and his quote was, “The masks always send out a signal,” and so I just quoted it back to him and stuck the image from the book on the front as well. That’s it. It’s basically, I insulted the health minister of Germany and put a picture of a barely visible swastika online. Matt Taibbi: You need an electron microscope to see it! C.J. Hopkins: I’ve said it, I don’t know how many fucking times, it’s not illegal. Yes, if you’re a Nazi, it’s illegal to spread swastikas around in Germany. But if you’re doing art, if you’re commenting on history, if you’re selling a book, there are a whole slew of reasons for exceptions where people can and do use swastikas, which you put in your piece, you put examples of the book covers. My lawyer has made all these arguments to the prosecutor. Matt Taibbi: And those arguments were rejected? C.J. Hopkins: Not even addressed, really. It’s just we had a chance to respond first and then we asked them for the tweets. That’s when we got the tweets. Then my lawyer wrote an even longer and more detailed response citing the terms of law and explaining who I am and my whole history of published work that anybody could fucking look at and figure out who I am, and what my intentions are. And nothing. The next thing we got was called an Order of Punishment. Matt Taibbi: Oh, my goodness. C.J. Hopkins: We got it yesterday. Basically, the story is this judge has already decided what my punishment is, which is either 3,600 euros or 60 days in jail. It’s so fucking Kafka-esque. So now the next step is that we go to “trial.” We go to trial where my lawyer will argue the exact same stuff that he’s already argued in written pleadings. He’ll argue that before the same judge that has already found me guilty and handed down this Order of Punishment. Matt Taibbi: So this is sort of analogous to the process of being sentenced in the United States and asking for mitigation in sentencing? C.J. Hopkins: I guess. I mean, I’m used to a trial where you go and you argue first and then they find you guilty. I guess the written argument was that was sufficient and so now I’m guilty. And yeah, I think that’s it. Because my lawyer is also talking about just getting the fine reduced. Matt Taibbi: Is it going to affect your immigration status or your ability to live there? C.J. Hopkins: I’m going to be a convicted fucking criminal, a hate criminal. I don’t think it can affect my ability to live here. I’ve got a permanent residence visa. Not that I want to stay. I spent the better part of yesterday standing on a bridge with my wife, talking about when and how I’m going to get the hell out of here. I don’t know, Matt, I don’t think that it can affect my residency status. I’ve got permanent residency. Who knows? Who knows at this point? Matt Taibbi: Has there been any interest from media there or here? C.J. Hopkins: Not major media… There’s a German journalist, Dirk Pohlmann, who was in the mainstream media here for many, many years. He runs his own independent thing now, and wrote up a piece on it. There’s another independent German journalist who writes for a mainstream Swiss paper. He lives in Switzerland. He wrote up something just on his Substack. It didn’t appear in his paper. I was grateful as hell for Europeans, because I didn’t expect a ton of stuff from the US. I thought that I might get some action here in Germany and it’s killing me. This country is fucking breaking my heart. Matt Taibbi: Absent some kind of mitigation, you’re going to have to make a decision about paying or serving. Are you thinking about doing the time? C.J. Hopkins: No. I thought about it originally and I thought, okay, I’ll make a statement. I’m going to be 62 years old in a couple of days. Life is too short to spend two months in an extremely overcrowded jail in Berlin. Let me say one more thing before you go. My case is my case, but really the story here is this is happening all over. This is just this naked crushing of dissent and opposition. Look at what they’re doing to Trump in the States. Look at what they’re doing to Assange, to people much bigger than me. I think that’s the real story here, just this naked crushing of dissent and opposition. Matt Taibbi: We’ll obviously want to keep tabs on your situation. Good luck and sorry you’re going through this. Hang in there. C.J. Hopkins: Thanks. Read more at: Racket.news
